Christopher Merrill discusses Harrison Street's sector strategies with Vonnie Quinn of Bloomberg TV.

The firm currently manages in excess of $12.8 billion in real estate assets across the US through both commingled funds and public security products including:

  • Closed-end Opportunistic Real Estate Funds
  • Open-end Core Fund
  • Public REIT Securities

The firm has raised approximately $8.6 billion in discretionary equity capital for its private and public real estate offerings. 

The firm launched its first investment vehicle in 2006, and Harrison Street Real Estate Capital has since become a market leader for its offering of commingled real estate funds exclusively targeting the areas of Education, Healthcare and Storage real estate.  In December 2010, Harrison Street acquired a REIT Securities advisory firm, and launched Harrison Street Securities, which provides investors with actively managed commingled funds, separate accounts and mutual fund products investing in public REIT Securities. In June 2015, the firm launched an European Student Housing Opportunity Fund, targeting the acquisition and development of student housing properties throughout the UK and Europe. 

Since inception, Harrison Street has acquired or developed over 680 properties in its targeted sectors of student housing, senior housing, medical office and self storage.  These investments are in excess of $16.9 billion.  The Firm has also realized on $4.5 billion of investments totaling over 286 properties.
